Of tornados and freeze warnings

What an Easter/Spring Break weekend. I had entered Rhys in three days of dog shows in Grove, Oklahoma for Friday, April 10 through Sunday, April 12. Perfect timing, I thought, as the show dates fell over our four day spring break. Just as I was getting ready to leave Thursday afternoon, the weather channel reported tornado watches and warnings for the area of SE Kansas and NE Oklahoma that I would be driving into. So, we waited a while. Drove through torrents of rain, got pushed around a bit by winds, and saw lightning way too close for comfort. However, we made it safely to the motel in only six hours instead of the four it should have taken. By Saturday morning I had to scrape frost off the car windows! It was almost a three weather season weekend. Rhys showed well on Friday, better on Saturday, and got the first place blue ribbon in his class on Sunday! Molly renewed her acquaintance with her breeder, I got to see Jerry's litter sister Chelsea, still as sweet as ever just like her brother. Had a wonderfully fun time with some great Corgi gal pals at dinner Saturday evening. Must recommend the Reingarten Inn restaurant in Grove, Oklahoma. They have authentic German food, absolutely the best hot and cold potato salads, a green bean salad that is incredible, and the best German beer I've tasted since visiting Germany a long time ago. Another recommendation for the Grove area if you are travelling with dogs is the Hickory Inn motel. It's an older place, but the rooms are large, comfortable, clean, all one level, drive right up to the door. There are several open grassy areas for walking the dogs...and the prices are reasonable. Now, to figure out when I can swing another trip south.....hmm, wonder where our Sunday judge's next show assignment is...
